Description

This product description highlights the historical significance of Japanese export products from 1891 to modern times. Teapots made during this period may or may not come with a matching creamer and sugar bowl, with those without being referred to as chocolate teapots. The use of red clay for teapots and coffee pots was preferred due to its ability to retain heat better than other types of ceramic or porcelain clays. The Brown Betty teapot, featuring a manganese brown glaze known as Rockingham glaze, is decorated with colored manganese string decoration to give it a three-dimensional appearance, along with hand-painted gold trim and designs. This teapot has two fleabites and some of the gold has worn off on the spout only. Other than that, it is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, necks, scratches, repairs, stains, or has not been modified in any way.
