This is a fossil Walrus ivory tusk stretch bracelet that was handcrafted be a Native Alaska Eskimo in the late 30s to early 40s. It was a tusk that was found on the beach. Looking at the back side of the bracelet you will see dark makings this only happens to Walrus tusk when the tusk lays on the beach for a long period and saltwater washing up on the tusk and the sun beat down on the tusk for a number of years. Walrus tusk keep growing throughout their lives and they only loss their tusk after death. The bracelet may have been crafted in this time range, but the walrus had died many years before the tusk was found and the bracelet was crafted. It is held together with two braided threads over rubber. There are a number of crack in the ivory which a normal occurrence for walrus tusk and happens when the animal is laying on the beach sunning themselves and decide to go into the cold water. It is in mint condition with no cracks, chips, necks, scratches, fleabites, repairs, stains, or wears-marks.
