Description
This is a common toll style CD-122 telephone long distance line insulator, which came in two wire groove sizes. It was the replacement for the 1920’s CD-121 toll style insulators. They were produced in mass quantities making them very common today. The Heminggray Company is the maker of this insulator. The No.-16 insulator had the smaller wire groove. They came in Aqua, Heminggray Blue, and Ice Blue colors up to 1938 after that the manufactured only product clear or straw color and the style number was change to CD-122 and this style of insulator was produced from 1919 to 1960. This insulator is referred to as Heminggray-16. It has “HEMINGGRAY-16” one side of the skirt and on the opposite side is “MADE IN U.S.A.” The lower wire groove rim has one chip and one round drip point (RDP) on the bottom is half gone other than that it is in excellent condition.
