Description

This Hemingray no.9 aqua colored telegraph/telephone insulator was product from 1890s to 1940s. This style insulator was most popular and was design for rural telephone lines and telegraph lines. The aqua, clear, and ice blue were the most common colors. The CD 107 insulator replaced the Hemingray no.9 in the 1940s for the main reason the CD 107 used less glass to make it. The trade name for this insulator was pony insulator. It has the R skirt design and it has the rounded dot points on the bottom of the skirt, which about nine dots have been chipped off and fleabite on most of the other dots, and there is one chip on the upper rim of the wire groove. Some damage would be expected on an 80 to 130 year old insulator. Other than that, it is in fair condition. On the skirt is embossed the words on one side “Hemingray – 9” and on the opposite side it has “MADE IN U.S.A.”
