Description
This is an Oneida LTD six inches press made plate. It has produced after 1935 this is known by the stamp on the back of the plate which is Oneida LTD. In 1935 is when the name changes from Oneida Community to Oneida LTD. This six inches plate is stainless flatware and not silver or silver-plated. During the 1960s, Oneida began to focus more on stainless steel flatware, instead of on the more expensive and prestigious silver-plated and sterling flatware that had previously been their hallmark. In the late 1960s allowed Oneida to introduce the first stainless flatware that had a decorative pattern similar to sterling and silver-plate. I do not know the age of this plate, however with the information in this description of name change in 1935 and the pattern design in the late 60s would lead me to believe that this plate was made between 1935 to mid-1960s it has a rolled edge and it the size of a salad plate of the times.
