Description

Although Japan had no Marshall Plan after WWII, converting Japan’s war industry to commerce was one of MacArthur’s pillars of reconstruction. This beautiful and colorful cups and saucers set was produced during this period of allied occupation of Japan from 1945 and 1952. The gold design on this cup and saucer set looks like it was hand painted with close attention on the details of the design. If the trim is true gold it would be 22k or 24k gold. The floral pattern looks like it was stamped on top of the finish glazing ang the gold was also put on, on top of the finish glazing. This ceramic cup and saucer is what is referred to as egg shall because the walls are very thin and partially transparent which allows for some light to show through the wall of the cup and through the saucer. This also makes the set very fragile. It is in mint condition with no cracks, chips, necks, scratches, fleabites, repairs, stains, or wears-marks. In addition, it looks like it has never been used.
